Once they complete their coursework and pass their exam, every Certified Senior Advisor (CSA®) agrees to uphold the CSA® Code of Professional Responsibility. This code ensures that they always act in the best interests of the older adults and families they serve. Continuing education is mandatory to maintain certification, keeping advisors informed about the latest developments in senior care, healthcare policy, and family support resources.
To achieve the CSA designation, individuals must pass a rigorous exam and adhere to an ethical standard that prioritizes the welfare and protection of seniors’ health. All criteria and standards are set by the Society of Certified Senior Advisors (SCSA).
To qualify for this certification, professionals must meet the following criteria:
Complete a candidate profile based on accurate information.
Complete and submit a disclosure questionnaire
Complete a six-textbook course with 26 review tests covering every aspect of the aging experience.
Pass a 10-section, 115-question exam.
Pass a background check.
Complete and pass the Roles, Rules, and Responsibilities Ethics Exam.
Complete and submit the signed Certified Senior Advisors Application for Certification.
Agree and comply with the Society of Certified Senior Advisors Code of Professional Responsibility.
